Can’t [I mean cant] use your apostrophe in Firefox?

This has been solidly beating me for months now. For some reason, [and completely inconsistently as far as I can tell], when attempting to type a single quote in an HTML input (’), Firefox pops up the quick find status bar instead of dropping in the appropriate character.

Then you’re done, locked out, handcuffed, bound, helpless . . . and so on and so forth. After doing a quick search [not sure why I never considered this before], it looks like simply resizing your browser window fixes the problem. Not sure how or why, but it does.

What a doozie. Go forward with your new found knowledge.
